At the ceremony, Thai Binh Duong University announced the decision by the Chairman of the University Council to appoint Professor Dr. Dao Van Dong as the President, effective from August 1, 2024. With his extensive experience in higher education management, Professor Dr. Dao Van Dong expressed his commitment to working closely with the faculty to elevate Thai Binh Duong University to regional and international prominence.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, Thai Binh Duong University welcomed more than 760 new students. Committed to its policy of not increasing tuition fees throughout the entire course of study, the university awarded scholarships worth over 2 billion VND from Sovico Group to all junior students. Among these, the top two valedictorians and 33 other new students received scholarships covering 50% to 100% of their first-year or full-program tuition.

Additionally, Tâm Phúc Fund, the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, and several businesses and partners awarded scholarships with a total value exceeding 200 million VND to students with outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Earlier, Thai Binh Duong University awarded 35 laptops and 25 scholarships covering 100% of the first-semester tuition to new students with entrance scores of 24 points or higher across three subjects, amounting to over 600 million VND in total. During the ceremony, representatives of HDBank presented a commitment certificate to provide internship opportunities and recruitment support for Thai Binh Duong University students, creating job prospects for graduates.

Representatives from Bali Tourism Polytechnic (BiTP) included Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Puja, Director; Dr. Luh Yusni Wiarti, Deputy Director; and Ms. Hardina – Secretary of the International Cooperation Department.

The memorandum focuses on promoting cooperation in education and research between the two institutions, including:

• Student, faculty, and staff exchanges to create a multicultural learning and working environment;
• Developing short-term and long-term academic programs for students;
• Exploring each other’s operational systems, expanding cooperation mechanisms, and identifying potential areas of collaboration;
• Enhancing awareness of academic programs, research, and educational resources to promote mutual development.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Dao Van Dong stated: “The partnership with BiTP is a significant step in Thai Binh Duong University’s internationalization strategy. We believe this collaboration will bring substantial benefits to both parties, particularly in the fields of tourism and hospitality education and research.�?It is anticipated that this partnership will provide students from both universities with an international, multicultural learning environment and comprehensive development opportunities, while also strengthening the friendly relations between Vietnam and Indonesia.

The conference, themed Transformation Trends: Shaping the Future of Sustainable Tourism, will take place until September 5th. It provides an opportunity for researchers, scholars, educators, management agencies, and businesses to exchange knowledge and experiences, and explore the latest trends shaping the future of the tourism and hospitality industry.

Attending the conference from Thai Binh Duong University were Prof. Dr. Dao Van Dong – President; Dr. Huynh Thanh Trang – Head of the Department of Research and International Cooperation, along with leaders from various faculties and departments.

Representing the co-organizing units were Dr. Do Thi Mai Doan Thuc – Dean of the Faculty of Tourism of Thai Binh Duong University, Conference Chair; Dr. Anderson Ngelambong – Head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at MARA University of Technology (Malaysia); and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ann Suwaree Ashton – School of Tourism Management, National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA, Thailand). 

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Dao Van Dong, stated: “IJCHT 2024 is an annual conference that provides an open academic research environment closely linked to industry practices, with multi-dimensional perspectives on tourism, particularly focusing on the urgent and contemporary issue of sustainable tourism development”.

With the rapid development of technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), and changes in tourist behavior and needs, defining and implementing sustainable tourism is facing new challenges and opportunities. During the two days of the conference, speakers will present and discuss the main theme: Trends that have and are transforming the future of sustainable tourism.

According to the Conference Committee, 85 high-quality papers were accepted for presentation out of over 120 submissions. These include 3 keynote speeches by renowned scientists and scholars worldwide:

• Prof. Cihan Cobanoglu – University of South Florida (USA), Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Technology, with the topic: “The Intersection of AI and Sustainability: Redefining the Future of Tourism”.
• Prof. John Bowen – University of Southern California (USA), co-author of the famous book “Marketing for Hospitality and Tourism,” with the topic: “Novel trends affecting the growth of sustainable tourism”.
• Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – Director of Institute for Tourism Development Research (Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), with the topic: “Current status and development trends of the Vietnamese tourism industry.”

Conference presentations will be held in parallel sessions (both in-person and online), chaired by scientists and experts from prestigious universities in Vietnam and abroad. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings with an ISBN index.

IJCHT 2024 promises to be an important international forum, providing valuable scientific and practical insights to guide the sustainable development of the tourism industry in the new context. The success of the conference will contribute positively to developing an environment for academic exchange and promoting extensive international research, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of tourism in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa in particular, and promoting Vietnam’s deeply integrated economy in general.

The main objective of this memorandum of understanding is to coordinate and successfully organize an International Scientific Conference with the theme “Justice and Legal Rights: Philosophical and Interdisciplinary Approaches.” The conference is scheduled to take place on January 10, 2025, at Thai Binh Duong University.

According to the memorandum of understanding, the two parties will collaborate on the following aspects:

• Preparation and organization of the conference: This includes developing the program, inviting speakers, and handling other organizational tasks.
• Attracting participation of scientists: Conducting promotional activities and soliciting contributions.
• Publishing research works: Compiling and publishing high-quality articles presented at the conference.

AUF, with its mission to promote cooperation and development in higher education within the Francophone community, is a vital partner for numerous universities worldwide. With the desire to expand international collaboration and enhance the quality of education, TBD has proactively sought opportunities to cooperate with AUF. Notably, TBD boasts a number of outstanding lecturers who hold master’s and doctoral degrees from France, providing a significant advantage in fostering educational partnerships with Francophone universities.

During the meeting, both sides discussed various potential areas of collaboration, including:

• Implementing specialized French language instruction, particularly in the fields of Law and Tourism.
• Developing a bilingual English-French master’s program in Law, targeting students from French-speaking countries and regions.
• Collaborating on joint research projects, co-organizing conferences, and publishing scientific works.
• Providing and exchanging experts and facilitating other collaborative activities.

TBD also expresses its desire to become an affiliated member of AUF, thereby gaining access to numerous collaborative opportunities and further development. Professor Nicolas Mainetti also shares his readiness to support TBD faculty in their studies and research in French-speaking countries.

The meeting was successfully conducted, laying the foundation for a long-lasting and sustainable partnership between TBD and AUF in the near future. This is a significant step forward, not only enhancing the quality of education and research at TBD but also contributing to the promotion of cultural and educational exchanges between Vietnam and the French-speaking community.

The presentation centered around the current state of the world. Despite the rise of China and the significance of other powers like Russia and the European Union, the United States remains the world’s leading superpower. However, its leadership has evolved over the decades, shifting more towards soft power and multilateralism.

As such, the presentation painted an accurate picture of how the U.S. interacts with the rest of the world in the 21st century, focusing on three main points:

• A brief overview of U.S. history: This section aimed to explain the unique characteristics of the United States and how it became a superpower.
• A description of hard and soft power: This part explored how these concepts have been and are currently being applied by the U.S.
• An overview of modern challenges: The presentation highlighted the challenges faced by the United States, including those posed by China and Russia, the ongoing war on terror, and the increasing domestic tensions in recent years.
